
With the help of the YWCA, Polly Mitchell, a prisoner in her own home, was able to escape one of the worst cases of domestic violence to ever make headlines. Since her escape, Polly has become a courageous advocate for victims of domestic violence and has shared her story on Larry King Live, 20/20, Montel, Good Morning America and the Oprah Show. Gail Wyatt, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist and professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at UCLA, examines the prevalence of interpersonal violence, how it occurs and why it continues today.
